We’re looking for new volunteers- to help transcribe the Sunday Herald onto tape for the blind.
Bishopbriggs based Cue and Review ‘Print Speaking to the Blind’ produces a whole host of publications for our audience of blind and visually impaired persons across the U.K., from Star Trek Magazine to Inside Soap. Until recently we had a team of volunteers dedicated to recording The Sunday Herald; however that team has stepped aside for a well earned rest after ten years of service.
Volunteering has its benefits regardless of your age or background, according to Managing Director Alastair McPhee. He said: “Ideally volunteers would be available on a Sunday, so the paper can be recorded as soon as possible. Anyone is eligible, we’re not just looking for retired people. Those who want to learn how to work in a radio studio may be especially interested. If you’re an older person, volunteering with Cue and Review gives you the chance to remain active and enjoying being part of a team, whilst if you’re a young person, coming here gives you workplace experience and technological skills that will really enhance your career prospects. Some of our former volunteers have gone on to work for Real Radio, Sky Sports and the BBC.”
It’s the perfect time to join Cue and Review as the premises are set to undergo a major revamp which will involve the installation of state of the art new studios.
Any interested parties can speak to Alastair via email at alastairmcphee@cueandreview.org.uk or by phoning 0141 563 0306.
